The Arts Center at Dunham Paranormal Investigations

Overnight Ghost Hunts/Paranormal Investigations in  Cincinnati, Ohio

Welcome to Cincinnati, Ohio's Version of Waverly Hills

Some places don’t just witness history.
They absorb it.

The Arts Center at Dunham is often referred to as Cincinnati’s version of Waverly Hills, and once you understand the land, the illness, and the lives tied to this site, it’s easy to see why.

Long before it became a community space and theater, Dunham stood at the center of more than a century of medical crisis, war-time care, and human loss. Today, investigators continue to report voices, movement, and intelligent interaction throughout the building and the underground tunnel system that still exists beneath it.

If you’ve been searching for a real paranormal investigation in Ohio, one rooted in history, community use, and repeated firsthand experiences, our Exclusive Arts Center at Dunham Investigations offer a rare opportunity to investigate a location that continues to surprise even seasoned investigators.

The Haunted History of the Former Dunham Tuberculosis Hospital

Opened in 1897, Dunham was established as the first municipal tuberculosis hospital in the United States, originally known as Dunham Tuberculosis Hospital, later renamed Cincinnati Tubercular Hospital.

At its height, the hospital spanned more than 115 acres and housed over 600 patients, many of whom were isolated for extended periods during a time when tuberculosis treatment options were limited and mortality rates were high.

But the history of this land stretches even further back.

Before the hospital was built, nearby grounds were used as a Potter’s Field, where an estimated 10,000 victims of cholera and other disease outbreaks were buried, often quickly and without markers during epidemics.

The site also functioned as a Civil War hospital camp, adding another layer of trauma, emergency care, and death long before the tuberculosis hospital ever opened.

Patients were transported through underground tunnel systems, historically used to move supplies, staff, and the deceased discreetly beneath the grounds. Portions of these tunnels remain intact today and are accessible during investigations.

The hospital officially closed in 1973, but many believe the emotional and physical energy tied to decades of illness, treatment, isolation, and loss never truly left the site.

Paranormal Activity & Investigator Experiences at Dunham

Reports from investigators and visitors vary widely, yet patterns continue to emerge across different groups and investigation styles.

Documented experiences include:

  • Voices, coughing, and footsteps heard within the underground tunnels

  • Disembodied conversations in former treatment and occupational spaces

  • Shadow figures seen moving through hallways and peripheral vision

  • Electronics malfunctioning inside the auditorium, with figures reported along the balcony

  • Apparitions appearing in mirrors within dressing rooms

  • EVPs referencing illness, military presence, and location-specific details

  • Apparitions of Civil War soldiers reported across the grounds

What makes Dunham especially compelling is that activity is not confined to one era or one room. Investigators often describe this location as layered, responding differently depending on where you are, how you investigate, and the time of night.

I booked my first official paranormal investigation with this lovely group! From the start they were kind, compassionate, and knowledgeable. While my group may have gotten distracted on the initial tour, we met back up with them later and had a great time using their various communication equipment. My friends and I did not want to leave! We will definitely be eyeing their events for another investigation soon <3
